Like who sees a stranger and decides to water his 10 camels? Watering a camel would require a lot of work, let alone watering 10! That is the power of God, she was favourably disposed to the person and job; it is impossible with man but possible with God. She had to go to the spring and walk back all those times. She must have been beautiful and very strong, no frail, little princess. Her father was well off to have lodging accommodations but she was still dutiful to do this job. It would have been easy to bail on it for her and get relieved of the job but she was trusted too. When looking for partners, we must look for a hardworking person, a person who seeks responsibility, as if seeking a perfect worker for a firm. Not perfect as in readymade but perfect as in qualified (servant of God) and willing as in (selfless and willing to learn and grow.) He gave her a 5g gold nose ring and bracelets weighing 115g. We meet Laban who will teach us and someone else some lessons. Laban too was kind to the visitor and this is a brother of a hot, hardworking girl so he was not bought over by the gifts but the power of God impresses upon men’s minds to favour us. There were gifts exchanged, when she decided to go; the household pronounced a blessing upon her. Both she and her home were willing to just send her off and this was not because of some ancient, weirdo custom but because God can change men’s hearts and guide them if they follow and cling to Him. The story being related is detailed to let us know that the servant left no detail out because he was a faithful servant that discharged his duties to the letter, as we should.
