July 02nd, 2021 – Spiritual warfare
To fight the enemy:
- Use scripture – learn parts, read it, vocalize, trust and obey the Word.
- Avoid self-pity because he revels in our feeling sorry for ourselves as we forget to focus on the ones that God wants us to work with. The distraction is a good weapon.
- Don’t leave the fellowship of the saints of God. As Christians, we are called to forsake not the assembling of ourselves and this is because we do for others and being in the environment blesses us, just as being in the wrong environment wrecks us.
- If we do the self-pity, get out of it. We are saved by Jesus and not ourselves. Doing wrong does not get better or wiped out because we beat ourselves up. We must be wise and realize that our righteousness does nothing for us. It does however, show the faith and work of God in us and that testimony can build us and lead others to Him. Be responsible and stop hating ourselves.
- Friends are misleading. We must never trust in the words of the ungodly. God’s Word is the one we must listen to but we like the gum flapping that goes on as our sages of friends blabber all authoritatively about life and lead us astray. If a person isn’t talking solely about God’s way in truth that person is not worth listening to for advice!
- Don’t run from God because we can’t hide from Him. Delaying the inevitable is not wise.
- Fight Satan’s lies with the truth of Jesus and his Word.
- Spend more time with the Lord in prayer and Bible study to gain the victory and cleanse ourselves.
- Put up resistance. Too often attacks meet no resistance so they persist. A swift and decisive piece of resistance can work wonders against low level attacks that lead to much trouble.
- Put on the whole armour of God.
